Mercury delivering radar subsystems

CHELMSFORD, Mass., Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Mercury Computer Systems of Massachusetts is delivering its radar subsystems to Raytheon for Patriot Air and Missile Defense System upgrades.

The upgrades support Raytheon's recently announced contracts for Patriot Air and Missile Defense System upgrades for Taiwan and Saudi Arabia.

"These upgrades leverage Mercury's best-of-breed technologies and rapid deployment services to help Raytheon improve nearly every aspect of the Patriot system, ensuring it remains the most technologically advanced air and missile defense system in the world," said Didier Thibaud, senior vice president and general manager of Mercury Computer Systems' Advanced Computing Solutions business unit.

"We continue to work closely with Raytheon to deliver solutions that meet stringent platform requirements and provide significant portability and performance in an open architecture."

Patriot is a combat-proven air and missile defense system chosen by 12 nations around the world. The newly redesigned Patriot protects against a full range of advanced threats, including aircraft, tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
