Magal securing European power facilities

YAHUD, Israel, June 2 (UPI) -- Israel's Magal Security Systems, Ltd. is supplying and installing intrusion detection systems at power facilities in an unidentified Eastern European country.

Execution of the contract, valued at $4.6 million, is planned over the next 18 months, the company said.

Work on the first 10 of 20 sites will be implemented immediately. Work on the remaining sites will be implemented at the customer's notice.

Magal said the system being installed is based on its leading taut wire product, DTR, which will be integrated with a complementary dual technology sensor and a control unit.

"This is the third order from this customer for a similar application and it is solid proof of our capabilities in fulfilling and exceeding our customer's expectations," said Eitan Livneh, president and chief executive officer of Magal S3. "We have been successful in delivering integrated Perimeter Intrusion Detection System solutions specifically tailored to our customers' environmental and operational needs.

"We expect the market to continue to invest in the physical security of national assets as part of the overall growth in the global homeland security market."

Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems encompasses a variety of smart barriers and fences, fence-mounted detectors, virtual gates, buried and concealed detection systems.
