FEMA asset tracking services continued

MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 10 (UPI) -- The U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency has tapped Virginia's QinetiQ North America for continued asset tracking services.

The award, a two-year award option, is worth up to $15.6 million.

Under FEMA's Total Asset Visibility Program, QinetiQ North America will provide continued integration with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's and FEMA's technical architecture, as well as surge capabilities for disaster operations.

The company will also provide asset tracking devices and supplemental equipment, Global Positioning System messaging services to locate tagged-assets or shipments, secure sharing of data-feeds and messaging, technical support for ongoing operations and maintenance and surge capabilities for disaster operations.

"This award serves as a strong testimonial to our strong mission support capabilities, and the quality of service we have been providing to FEMA for the last year," says Rick Finn, general manager and senior vice president of QinetiQ North America's Homeland Security Business Unit. "Our long-standing relationship with (the Homeland Security Department) has been mutually beneficial throughout the years.
