ASHBURN, Va., Feb. 2 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air National Guard has tasked Telos Corp. of Virginia with designing and building an enterprise-level information transport system.

Telos said it will serve as a prime contractor on the five-year, $9 billion NETCENTS contract vehicle.

NETCENTS is an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract that provides the U.S. Air Force, the Department of Defense and other federal agencies with a single vehicle through which to buy network-centric information technologies, networking equipment and services, as well as voice, video and data communications hardware and software and telephony solutions from preferred contractors.

"The subsystems addressed by the modernization initiative include inside plant, outside plant, second-generation wireless local area network, or 2GWLAN, converged backbone network, mass notification system and all supporting infrastructure," said Ronnie Clark, director of Air National Guard programs for Telos' Secure Networks division.

"The outcome will be the installation of an integrated, structured, high-bandwidth cabling system with sufficient capability to support both ANG and Air Force current and future mission requirements."
