ManTech assists Navy in acoustics program

FAIRFAX, Va., Jan. 26 (UPI) -- ManTech International Corp. of Virginia has received a $45 million to support the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division.

Under the four-year award, ManTech will provide engineering, technical and program management support for submarine and surface ship signature silencing programs.

Included will be ManTech's development of systems designed to measure acoustic and non-acoustic signatures; execution of ocean engineering programs, including test and evaluation of new submarine technology; engineering and logistics for mine-vulnerability assessments; environmental assessment and impact evaluations; and assistance in planning and managing ship acoustics-related programs.

"ManTech has supported our Navy with engineering and technical support for submarine and surface ship signature programs for more than 20 years," said Terry M. Ryan, president and chief operating officer of ManTech's Systems Engineering and Advanced Technology group. "Our specialized, in-depth, acoustic experience ensures continued, outstanding support to our NSWC customer and other Navy acoustic test support programs."

The NSWC, Carderock Division, is the Navy's research and development, test and evaluation, engineering and fleet support organization.
