MITO, Japan, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- U.S. Air Force personnel worked alongside their Japanese counterparts to conduct bilateral training in aerospace ground equipment for relocation.
Roughly 70 personnel from the 67th Aircraft Maintenance Unit trained with the Japanese air self defense forces in a weeklong exercise to deploy and land military aircraft.
The U.S. Air Force announced it deployed three C-130 Hercules aircraft to Hyakuri Air Base in Japan with various mechanical materials to assist in the training exercise meant to familiarize U.S. forces with Japanese equipment.
U.S. airmen said the bilateral training exercise provided the opportunity for enlistees to expand their capabilities and become acquainted with their Japanese allies.
"Utilizing in-place equipment not only helps cut costs and eases the logistical difficulties of transporting all the (Japanese defense force), but it also makes our Airmen more versatile with the types of equipment they are able to use in the future," said Master Sgt. Benjamin Adcock.
