DULUTH, Ga., July 22 (UPI) -- The U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center has selected DataPath for the Seaport-Enhanced procurement process for satellite and wireless network services.

Georgia-based DataPath was awarded a prime contract under the SeaPort-e contract vehicle, which allows the company to submit bids for U.S. Navy and Marine Corps communications network service contracts.

The Naval Surface Warfare Center selection of DataPath includes up to 10 years of options in the estimated $5.3 billion worth of SeaPort-e procurement contracts available.

"This award is the result of our efforts to continue to expand our offerings across key user communities within the U.S. Department of Defense and civilian government market," Dave Helfgott, DataPath president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"Based on our proven capabilities to deliver vital communications networks, software applications and technical support services, we were selected as a prime contractor that will serve the U.S. Navy and our longtime customer the U.S. Marine Corps for years to come."
