ORANGEBURG, N.Y., June 18 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has contracted Northrop Grumman Corp. and DHS Technologies for mobile tactical operations centers for units in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The $240 million contract with Northrop Grumman and DHS will go to support the Army standardized integrated command post systems family of trailer-mounted support systems. The mobile military command centers are capable of being deployed in the battlefield with short notice.
Officials say the Northrop Grumman/DHS units, equipped with climate control and power for lighting and computers, will be deployed at U.S. Army operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
DHS will manufacture their deployable rapid-assembly shelters for the SICPS/TMSS contract, while Northrop Grumman will be responsible for program management and integrated logistics support.
"The military has already been using our deployable rapid-assembly shelters products for years," A. Jon Prusmack, DHS Technologies chief executive officer, said in a statement.
"We are excited to be able to work with Northrop Grumman to provide an even more complete system to our men and women serving with the military."
