MANILA, Philippines, July 3 (UPI) -- The Philippines has boosted the number of security personnel at its international airports following the terror attacks in Britain.
Immigration Commissioner Marcelino Libanan said personnel were specifically looking for suspected terrorists trying to enter the country, The Manila Times reported Tuesday.
The terrorist watch dovetails with a report that Australian authorities have detained a man wanted in Britain on suspicion of complicity in the failed car bombings in London and the attack at Glasgow airport in Scotland.
The suspect, identified as Bilal Abdullah, was reportedly arrested at Brisbane's airport.
The security alert at the airports in the Philippines have been raised to their highest level, Libanan said.
At least one al-Qaida-connected terrorist group operates in the southern Philippines.
