Ahmadinejad wants live debate with Bush

TEHRAN, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has called for an open and live debate with U.S. President George W. Bush on international conflicts.

"Let each one of us declare in this debate his opinion on means and ways for settling international crises," Ahmadinejad said at a press conference in Tehran Tuesday, quoted by the Iranian News Agency, IRNA.

"We have just and balanced proposals to make based on the principles of respecting human dignity and equality between peoples," Ahmadinejad said.

He lashed out at the United States and Britain, accusing them of being the cause for "many wars, conflicts and injustices" in the world.

"In the current order of international relations, America and Britain are imposing their views on 180 countries around the world and consider themselves in equilibrium with the whole international community," Ahmadinejad said.

Calling for building international relations on the basis of "justice and democracy," the Iranian head of state stressed that "the Iranian people are advocates of peace but will not surrender to threats and force."

Reiterating Iran's stance on the package of incentives by Western countries in return for a suspension of nuclear enrichment, Ahmadinejad said, "we believe that all pending matters could be resolved through negotiations."

He said Iran's response to the package, which has not been made public, "constitutes a proper ground for settling this matter."
