DOHA, Qatar, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Addressing the abductors of an American journalist kidnapped in Iraq, the Arabic satellite network asked her abductors to set Jill Carroll free.
Wadah Khanfar, general manager of the controversial pan-Arab satellite television network al-Jazeera, told the unknown abductors of Jill Carroll, a free lance journalist working for the Christian Science Monitor, that detaining her was "unethical" and that she should be released immediately.

The network had earlier broadcast a videotape showing Carroll, wearing a headscarf and weeping in front of the camera.
Khanfar was addressing some 300 journalists from around the world gathered in Doha, the capital of Qatar, to attend a symposium organized by the Arab network.
