BAGHDAD, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Roadside bombs in Iraq have killed seven U.S. and Coalition troops in two days in separate incidents.
Bomb attacks have claimed the lives of three soldiers, two Marines and two airmen in separate incidents Jan. 22 and 23, U.S. officials said Tuesday.
Two Multinational Division Baghdad soldiers were killed when a roadside bomb struck their vehicle in southeast Baghdad on Jan. 23. One soldier died at the scene and the other soldier died of wounds en route to the military hospital.
Another roadside bomb killed a Multinational Division soldier on a dismounted patrol in southwest Baghdad the same day, officials noted.
Officials at Camp Fallujah reported that two Marines were killed Jan. 23 in a non-hostile vehicle accident near Taqaddum, in central Iraq about 46 miles west of Baghdad. The Marines were assigned to 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), the American Forces Press Service reported.
In other developments, combined forces detained two suspected terrorists in connection with recent improvised-explosive-device (IED) attacks in Diyarah during a raid Tuesday morning. Iraqi soldiers from the 8th Iraqi Army Division, and U.S. soldiers from the 8th Infantry Regiment and the 4th Infantry Division, raided two houses suspected of harboring terrorists, the American Forces Press Service reported.
Also Tuesday, U.S. soldiers from the 67th Armor Regiment discovered an IED west of Iskandariyah. It consisted of a 155 mm round, a long-range cordless telephone, and a detonator with wires protruding from the round. Explosive ordnance disposal soldiers disabled the weapon, AFPS said.
Soldiers from the 7th Iraqi Army Division, and Coalition forces found six caches and capture three insurgents during patrols of various cities Monday.
