Israel seeks $12b in U.S. aid, credits

TEL AVIV, Israel, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Israel is asking the United States for $12 billion in aid and credits, officials in Tel Aviv said Sunday. Talks on the massive package, which includes $4 billion in "special military aid" linked to a probable U.S.-led offensive against Iraq, are scheduled to start Monday in Washington.
