Court dismisses Sharif election petitions

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Pakistan's Supreme Court court Monday ruled that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his wife and his brother could not run in Thursday's general election. Sharif and another former prime minister, Benazir Bhutto, were barred from contesting the elections because of criminal convictions.
