U.S. to withdraw from ABM treaty

WASHINGTON, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- The Bush administration has signaled an announcement on the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty, the 1972 pact with Russia prohibiting a global missile defense system. On Tuesday, the Russian wire service TASS reported that Secretary of State Colin Powell visiting Moscow Sunday notified his counterpart Igor Ivanov that Bush would soon talk to Russia about a unilateral withdrawal.
