WASHINGTON, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Hours after Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld left Oman on a swing through the Middle East, the Pentagon announced Oman had been granted permission to buy its first 12 F-16s and a large arsenal of missiles, for $1.1 billion. The sale is expected to "strengthen military ties" and reward Oman's cooperation with the United States.
