ANKARA, Turkey, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Russian energy company Gazprom reached deals for natural gas with their Turkish counterparts during meetings in Ankara, the Russian company said.
Russian exports natural gas to Turkey through the Trans-Balkan and Blue Stream natural gas pipelines.
Alexei Miller, chairman of Gazprom, met in Ankara with Fazil Senel, general manager of Turkish pipeline company BOTAS. They agreed to supplements to the gas purchase and sale contracts for pipelines for Turkey.
"The addenda set out the amounts and key commercial terms and conditions for gas supplies from Russia to Turkey in 2012," Gazprom said in a statement.
Turkey is expected to get around 911 billion cubic feet of natural gas from Russia. In 2011, Gazprom had a minimum contractual obligation to deliver 847 billion cubic feet for the year.
"The parties pointed out the prompt development and mutually-beneficial nature of the Russian-Turkish partnership in the gas sector," added Gazprom.
Officials also discussed the status of the proposed South Stream natural gas pipeline that would traverse Turkish waters on its way to European consumers.
