Saudi grants Yemen 3M barrels of oil

ADEN, Yemen, June 27 (UPI) -- Saudi Arabia said it was granting Yemen around 3 million barrels of crude oil though a series of six shipments, refiners on the coast of Aden said.

A group of unnamed Aden oil refineries announced a grant from Saudi Arabia in the form of 650,000 barrels of crude arrived in early June. The remaining shipments will arrive in Yemen through August through the Saudi Arabian Oil Co., the official Saba news agency in Yemen reports.

Aden refineries said they'd sell off the crude as soon as possible in order to distribute the revenue across the country.

The country's oil minister said last month that ongoing political turmoil and attacks on the nation's pipelines are pushing Yemen toward economic catastrophe.

The Interior Ministry during the weekend accused 43 members of the opposition Joint Meeting Parties of attacking state oil pipelines and electricity stations

Sabotage is curbing national oil production. Production is down nearly half from the 300,000 barrel-per-day level reached last year.
