It would become the first Iranian company to develop offshore oil projects in Saudi Arabia if it can reach agreements with Saudi Aramco, the semiofficial Mehr news agency reports.

IOEC is the first general contractor for oil and gas industries in Iran, working on pipeline infrastructure and offshore construction.

Apart from Aramco, companies in Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman have confirmed their qualification of IOEC, said Masoud Soltanpour, managing director at IOEC.

IOEC operates domestically in the South Pars gas field as well as in India, Nigeria and Turkmenistan.

Tehran is keen to tout its international energy deals as it copes with punitive economic sanctions imposed for its controversial nuclear program.
