CAIRO, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- For the fourth time this year, militants Tuesday in the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt bombed a gas pipeline servicing an area industrial zone, state media reported.
The official MENA news agency said a gas pipeline was attacked in the coastal city of al-Arish. No injuries were reported and there were no claims of responsibility.
Egyptian news site Ahram Online reported the attack was the fourth this year and the 20th since the 2011 revolution. The report said attacks on energy infrastructure disrupted supplies for downstream consumers in Israel and Jordan.
British energy company BG Group in late January declared force majeure in Egypt, meaning it is unable to meet certain contractual obligations because of circumstances beyond its control.
The company said the interim Egyptian government hasn't honored agreements on the company's share of natural gas from Egyptian fields, saying diversions into the domestic market during the fourth quarter of 2013 were higher than expected.
