LONDON, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- British energy services provider Petrofac said Monday it signed a $120 million deal to help train employees working for the Malaysian National Oil Co.
Petrofac said it signed the deal with the company known as Petronas. The deal is "for the operation and management of two high-specification training facilities that Petrofac is building to support Petronas' workforce capability enhancement program," the company said in a statement.
The deal adds to a memorandum of understanding between the two companies. The memorandum is meant to ensure both sides are able to collaborate effectively on development programs.
"The award of our biggest training contract to date demonstrates our growing scale in an area which international and national oil companies have high on their agendas," Andy Inglis, Petrofac's integrated energy services chief, said in a statement.
Malaysia is No. 3 in the world in terms of exports of liquefied natural gas, behind Qatar and Indonesia.
The U.S. Energy Department's Energy Information Administration said natural gas consumption in Malaysia as of 2010 reached 1.1 trillion cubic feet per year, about 42 percent of what it produces.
