TEHRAN, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Iranian natural gas shipments through a pipeline to Turkey have resumed after deliveries were interrupted by Kurdish rebels, an Iranian official said.
The separatist Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, said it was responsible for an Aug. 11 attack on a natural gas pipeline in Turkey, it's second this month.
Majid Boujarzadeh, a spokesman for the National Iranian Gas Co., said exports to Turkey resumed late Thursday, the Oil Ministry's Petroenergy Information Network reports.
A PKK attack in southeastern Turkey killed eight soldiers this week and 13 others were killed in attacks last month. Iran and Iraq are arguing over Iran's military operations along the border targeting PKK affiliates in the Party for Free Life of Kurdistan.
Several attacks targeting Iranian natural gas pipelines to Turkey were reported in July and August of 2010. Ankara at the time vowed to do more to protect energy infrastructure connecting both countries.
Turkish officials this week said they've run out of patience with the PKK.
