July 9 (UPI) -- CEO Elon Musk shared pictures of the first finished Model 3 from Tesla's initial production run.
Production of the newest Tesla model began Friday. On Saturday, Musk promised photos of the first finished Model 3. Not long after, the CEO shared pictures of the first car to come off the assembly line on Twitter.

With a starting price tag of $35,000, the new model is a less expensive alternative to the luxury Model S. The sedan is slightly smaller, but still features self-driving hardware. It boasts a range of 215 miles.

During the first month of production, Tesla expects to build just 30 cars, but hopes to dramatically accelerate the rate of production to 20,000 cars per month by the end of the year.
More than 370,000 people have put down $1,000 deposits for a Model 3, according to Tesla's most recent public figures.
