New iPhone update allows bosses more control

By Shawn Price

CUPERTINO, Calif., March 2 (UPI) -- Apple's next iPhone update will give employers the ability to arrange, block or even hide apps on your company phone.

Thanks to the new update, your boss won't let you play Candy Crush, your email and office chat will be tied to your phone, but at least you'll know when he or she is spying on you.

The message, "This iPhone is managed by your organization," will appear on the lock screen.

With the update, employers can also change notification settings for your phone. The company can put the Slack channel in the middle of the home screen and force notifications to appear even on your lock screen.

A developer discovered changes to the mobile device management software in an iOS 9.3 preview, at the same time Apple is locked in a legal battle with the FBI over the right to keep iPhones secure against government surveillance or hackers.
