SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Apple is set to unveil its latest iPhone model and make other announcements about new products at an event scheduled to be streamed live online Wednesday.

The event is set to take place at 10 a.m. PDT at San Francisco's Bill Graham Civic Auditorium and is streaming live on the Apple website.

Apple's new iPhone -- which analysts predict will be called iPhone 6S -- is expected to feature Force Touch. This technology allows a user to complete tasks by pressing harder or softer on the screen to reveal additional options or render a shortcut, such as hard-pressing on a destination in Google Maps to begin navigating.

Further improvements such as a faster A9 processor, and a camera with a 12 megapixel sensor and the ability to shoot 4K resolution video were also expected to be announced.

Apple's iPhone is currently the world's best-selling smartphone. After nine months of being on the market, its newest version, iPhone 6, has sold 183 million units and makes up nearly two thirds of the company's profits.

Meanwhile, Apple TV is expected to be relaunched in a somewhat thicker and larger package accompanied by a price hike from the current $69 asking price to $175. New third-party apps, an app store, games and a voice-activation feature may also accompany the new device. It will also feature a faster A8 processor, more storage and a new remote control with a touchpad that will replace the input system the device currently features.

Siri, Apple's voice-activated personal assistant, is also due for an update in the next iOS operating system version and may be a topic of discussion at Wednesday's event.

Siri's predicted upgrade may be in reaction to new competition from Micorosoft's Cortana, Google's OK Google and Facebook's M technologies.

Apple's iOS9 is expected to include Wi-Fi phone calls, an ad-blocking feature and a personalized news app called News. Apple Maps should also see an update, including improved public transit directions.
