NEW YORK, April 9 (UPI) -- Sabra has recalled 30,000 cases of its classic hummus for possible contamination of listeria.
The contamination was discovered during a random sample test collected from a retail location by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development on March 30.
Sabra was alerted and voluntarily made the recall.
Listeria usually causes short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. It can be worse for children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems and can be fatal. It can also cause still births and miscarriages in pregnant women.
