PALO ALTO, Calif., March 15 (UPI) -- Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, is hinting at a software update that could extend the range a Tesla Model S.

He tweeted on Sunday that Tesla will be having a press conference on Thursday at 9 a.m. PST, and that the software update will "end range anxiety."

Range anxiety is particularly troublesome for electric car owners, because charging is typically time-consuming, and there are fewer charging stations than gas stations. The software update would affect the "whole fleet," Musk says, which means it will be sent out to anyone who already owns a Model S.
