NEW YORK, May 1 (UPI) -- Twitter-owned Vine has revamped its website to feature users' videos, a search bar and other navigation features that lets users discover its video content.
Vine seems to be making a big push on the web, with a revamped website that allows anyone to access all its video content, even without a sign-in. The redesign centers around featuring the app's best videos and playlists, channels for exploring new content, and featured videos meant to hook casual visitors.
It isn't difficult to see that the redesign is heavily influenced by video-sharing giant Youtube.
The big upgrade is that now users do not have to be logged in to access this content, making the site open to larger audience, including casual users. Previously, to access Vine on the web users had to have a log in or find a user using their URL. But now newcomers can access the site, which allows them to play videos in fullscreen mode as well.
The change come less than a month after Vine started letting users send text and short video messages privately to each other. Vine said that it has 40 million registered accounts as of last August, the only time it has disclosed user numbers. Close rival Instagram, owned by Facebook, said it had 200 million users last month.
