Chevrolet Corvette MotorWeek's 2014 'Driver's Choice' best

CHICAGO, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Ford Fiesta ST, Mazda3, and Ram pickup are among the new vehicles named winners of MotorWeek's Driver's Choice Awards.

The new Corvette was named "Best of the Year" for "delivering an exotic performance, for far less than an exotic price." The 2014 LT1 V-8 generates 455-horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque making it a true sports car.

"It looks great from every angle, and is a total high performance package that is truly world class," said MotorWeek host John Davis Thursday at the Chicago Auto Show.

"This is a fabulous award and one that we are exceptionally proud to call our own," said Tim Mahoney, chief marketing officer for Global Chevrolet.

The Ford Fiesta was chosen best subcompact, the Mazda3 best compact, the Chevrolet Impala best family sedan, Jaguar F-Type best convertible, Cadillac CTS best luxury sedan, Subaru WRX best sport sedan, BMW 4 Series best sports coupe and the Corvette Stingray best performance car.

The Jeep Cherokee was named best small utility, Hyundai Santa Fe best large utility, Ram 1500 best pickup truck and the Honda Accord Hybrid best eco-friendly vehicle.

For those with deep pockets, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series and Porsche 911 Turbo S were judged best dream machines as was the seven-passenger Land Rover Range Rover Sport.

MotorWeek, the nation's longest running automotive television program, has annually honored its choices for the best cars, trucks and SUVs in 13 lifestyle categories since 1983.
