Jobs with rapid growth, respectable pay -- just saying

CHICAGO, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- At least 12 occupations in the United States are growing rapidly and pay at least $22 per hour, a national employment firm said Thursday.

CareerBuilder, in concert with Economic Modeling Specialist International, compiled a list of 12 "hot jobs" that are defined by 7 percent or higher growth from 2010 to 2013, projections of continued growth and pay that is $22 per hour or more.

Topping the list simply because there are more opportunities than the others, is software development, which currently numbers more than 1 million jobs.

Jobs in software development have grown 11 percent since 2010 and median earnings in the field are $45.06 per hour, CareerBuilder said.

There are currently 438,095 jobs in market research analysis or marketing specialist, up 14 percent from 2010 with the median wage $29.10 per hour.

CareerBuilder also recommended jobs as training and development specialists (currently 231,898 jobs with a median pay of $27.14 per hour), financial analysts (257,159 jobs, median pay $37.34 per hour), physical therapists (207,132 jobs, $37.93 per hour) and web developers (136,921 jobs, $27.84 per hour).

The highest paid job among the 12 is petroleum engineers, who have a median pay of $63.67 per hour. Although rapidly growing -- up 21 percent since 2010 -- it is a relatively specialized job with only 40,733 positions in the field.
