WASHINGTON, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- U.S. regulators announced two Harley-Davidson recalls Monday, affecting 22,483 motorcycles with potential clutch problems.
The company is recalling 19,597 model year 2014 motorcycles made from May 3 to Oct. 14 due to master clutch cylinders that may allow air into the clutch system and 2,886 additional motorcycles with the same manufacturing dates that may have been assembled with incorrect clutch release plates.
All of the recalled motorcycles may have the incorrect clutch release plates, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.
The two problems could make it difficult to disengage the clutch, which could make it harder to stop the motorcycle or slow it down, increasing the risk of a crash.
The company said it would inspect the affected vehicles and make repairs free of charge.
