BALTIMORE, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- The daughter of a Baltimore woman whose pit bull killed her said her mother was devoted to the dog, despite two previous attacks.
"She loved that dog unconditionally," said Tamathia Davis, daughter of Terry Douglass, a 56-year-old woman with cerebral palsy who used a wheelchair and was killed by Boosie, a 4-year old male pit bull.
After the second attack, during which Douglass and one of her sons were bitten, the dog was taken to a city shelter and relatives pleaded with Douglass not to take back the dog she had had since he was a puppy, The Baltimore Sun reported Sunday.
"My mom had gotten to point in her life when she felt like her kids didn't need her any more, and she latched onto this dog," Davis said.
Douglass took the dog back after both attacks – even after the first attack two years ago that left her face permanently altered.
"Whenever my mom would open her mouth, her cheek would open with it," Davis said.
Davis said her stepfather tried to stop the fatal attack Sunday and tried to revive Douglass with CPR after it occurred.
"I know that my mother has been nothing but good to this dog," Davis said.
