Delta Air Lines holding cooking contest for new chef

ATLANTA, July 24 (UPI) -- Delta Air Lines has announced it is partnering with Food & Wine magazine to create a culinary competition video series to find its newest chef.

The winner of the challenge, called "The Cabin Pressure Cook Off," will consult with Delta on menus for flights departing Atlanta, where the airline has its headquarters, ABC News reported.

"We have been very focused on culinary design and the manner in which we provide more than 110,000 sophisticated, tasty meals each day on our flights around the world. This opportunity allows us to try something truly unique," Joanne Smith, Delta's senior vice president of In-Flight Service, said.

Four former Food & Wine best new chef winners -- Hugh Acheson, Linton Hopkins, Kelly English and George Mendes -- will compete in Delta's contest.

The four episodes will air in October on Delta's in-flight entertainment, delta.com and foodandwine.com.

The contest will be filmed at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York, ABC News said.

Television personality Jackie Tranchida will serve as host.
