Big Lots recalls holiday pathway lights

WASHINGTON, July 24 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of 29,500 sets of holiday pathway lights due to a fire hazard.

The 10-piece sets of holiday light bulbs are used to brighten up pathways during the Christmas holiday season. The sets contain 10 light stakes, each 11 inches tall and topped with a colored light bulb.

They are all attached by a 15-foot electric cord.

"Holiday Light Bulbs" appears on the box.

The light sets were imported from China by Big Lots of Columbus, Ohio. They were sold at Big Lots stores from October through January for about $10.

The watchdog agency said the lights use plated steel conductors and have a plastic coating that is not flame retardant, which makes them a fire risk.

Consumers were advised to stop using the light sets and return them to Big Lots for a full refund.

Consumers can call 866-244-5687 for information.
