WASHINGTON, July 3 (UPI) -- Chrysler Group LLC said Wednesday it is recalling about 840,000 vehicles to deal with five safety issues.
The Detroit automaker said one recall, affecting 490,000 cars and sport utility vehicles, involves faulty electronics that could prevent the head restraints from operating properly, The Detroit News reported. Chrysler said it had received eight reports of problems with the head restraints' microprocessors, but none that caused injury.
The recalls cover the 2011-2013 Chrysler Sebring, 200 and Dodge Avenger midsize cars; 2011-2013 Jeep Liberty SUVs; and 2011-2012 Dodge Nitro SUVs.
The News said Chrysler also confirmed it is recalling 282,000 minivans to fix an air-bag software problem linked to reports of three crashes and one minor injury. The recall is for the 2013 Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Caravan and Ram C/V Tradesman.
Chrysler said it will recall about 69,000 2013 Ram 1500 four-wheel-drive pickups to update electronic stability control software. The company said it had received nine reports from dealers about a warning light problem. No injures had been reported related to the problem.
Chrysler said it also is recalling 1,060 2013 Ram 4500/5500 four-wheel-drive commercial trucks to inspect and replace, if necessary, a bolt on the track bar that secures the axle during suspension travel. Fastened improperly, it could compromise steering. Chrysler said it knew of no accidents or injuries, but had received two field reports of problems.
