KidCo Inc. PeaPod Travel Tents recalled

WASHINGTON, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Libertyville, Ill., firm KidCo Inc. is recalling 220,000 PeaPod Travel Beds in response to the death of a 5-month-old in New York.

The cause of death has not been determined, but the boy was found with his face pressed against the fabric of the side walls of a tent, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Friday.

The recall includes PeaPod and PeaPod Plus Travel Beds. They were imported from China and sold nationwide in a variety of colors from January 2005 through the present for $70 to $100.

The consumer product agency said regulators in Canada and the United States have fielded nine additional reports of children entrapped in the tents or have "experienced physical distress in the product."

The PeaPod travel beds are portable tents sold for use by infants and toddlers. They have sides with zippers to create an opening and an inflatable air mattress that fits into a zippered pocket under the floor of the tent.

Consumers were advised to stop using the tents and contact KidCo for a free repair kit.

Consumers can call 855-847-8600 for information.
