LONDON, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- British bank Lloyds said it would cut 1,000 jobs, bringing its total job cuts since 2008 to 31,800.
The Sun newspaper reported that the bank, which is 40 percent owned by taxpayers who helped the bank struggle through the financial crisis, would close offices in Scunthorpe, Newcastle and Romford, Essex.
The bank's announcement came a day after it confirmed executive Truett Tate, who resigned on Monday, would be paid his annual salary of $1,037,000 next year, even though he has resigned.
He would also receive $253,000 in pension benefits, The Sun reported.
