CUPERTINO, Calif., Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Updates for the iOS mobile device operating system will help battery life and more, California company Apple said.

The iOS update was released to help increase battery life, fix problems with iCloud syncing and add capability to the original iPad, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

The update is applicable for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Owners have been instructed to go to "Settings," then turn to "General" and then "Software Update."

After that, prompts guide the user through the procedure.

It is recommended the device have 50 percent of its battery power available before starting the update. That and a WiFi connection are all that's required, the Times said.
