Boy Scouts of America recalls wind jackets

WASHINGTON, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Boy Scouts of America of Charlotte, S.C., is recalling 5,400 Cub Scout windbreakers with retractable cords that pose a strangulation hazard, regulators said.

The Cub Scout Wind Tech jackets were imported from China and sold nationwide at Boy Scouts of America retail outlets from November 2009 through July 2011 for about $32.

The recalled jackets are blue nylon with a polyester lining and a full zipper front. A Cub Scout wolf head is embroidered on the upper left chest.

Consumers were advised to remove the retractable cords with toggles at the hood and at the waist, which can pose a strangulation hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

Consumers can contact Boy Scouts of America at 855-873-2408 for information.
