LAHORE, Pakistan, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Railroad workers in Pakistan would not call off their strike based on empty promises from management, the president of Rail Mazdoor Ittehad said Monday.

The group's president, Sarfaraz Khan, said workers were disrupting rail service because workers and pensioners were not being paid, Geo News reported.

Railroad workers have begun blocking trains by sitting or lying on tracks at train depots. The actions have stopped or delayed the Iqbal Express, Awam Express, the Tezgam and other trains, Geo News said.
