Toyota recalls 106,000 Prius cars

TORRANCE, Calif., June 1 (UPI) -- Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corp. said 106,000 Prius vehicles are being recalled due to nuts coming loose in the gear box.

The problem could lead to difficulties with the power steering, CNN reported Wednesday.

The recall includes 2001-2003 model year Prius cars, about 52,000 of which were sold in the United States.

Toyota said repairs, offered free of charge, would take about 4 hours to complete and that it would send letters out to Prius owners in early July.
