SCHAUMBURG, Ill., Feb. 26 (UPI) -- California electronics firm TiVo Inc.'s legal battles over patent infringements have expanded with a suit filed in Texas, court papers show.

Already involved in legal disputes with Dish Network Corp., EchoStar Corp, AT&T Inc. and Verizon, technology giant Motorola has filed suit against TiVo for patent infringement, as well, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.

The latest lawsuit involves digital video recording device patents Motorola claims one of its subsidiaries purchased in the mid 1990s, two years before TiVo was founded, the Journal said.

Motorola's suit asks for "all available remedies," as compensation.

"We pride ourselves on our strong R&D and intellectual property and will move aggressively to protect that value on behalf of our customers, partners and shareholders," Motorola said in a statement.

TiVo did not return calls requesting a comment, the Journal said.
