NEW YORK, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Bloggers said U.S. telecommunications giant Verizon's sale of Apple's iPhone was brisk but suggested there was trouble ahead for the popular phone.
Verizon sold out its inventory of Apple iPhones available by pre-order in less than a day, ComputerWorld reported Friday.
No number was revealed for how many iPhones were sold, but pre-order inventories were depleted in a sale that lasted about 16 hours, from 3 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. EST.
Pre-orders will resume at 3 a.m. Wednesday, with Verizon versions of the iPhone available at Apple, Verizon and Best Buy stores Thursday.
But ComputerWorld said bloggers were not universally impressed with the iPhone that uses Verizon's CDMA channel access technology, rather GSM, which is used by the iPhone's previously exclusive carrier AT&T.
Blogger Jessica Dolcourt complained about the lack of "simultaneous voice and data" transmissions and said, GSM was "more seamless and extensive support as a world phone."
She also complained "an ever-so-slight change to the … hardware means that previously manufactured iPhone 4 cases won't snugly fit."
Others pointed out Google's Android operating platform was coming on strong, giving Apple a run for its money.
"Android is the leading U.S. smartphone platform as I write this. It's a proven platform, so AT&T would be foolish not to embrace it," blogger Clint Boulton wrote.
