CUPERTINO, Calif., Jan. 15 (UPI) -- "The Daily," an anticipated news service for owners of iPad tablet computers, won't go online next week as expected, officials in California said.

Sources told "All Things Digital" the delay would give Apple Inc. time to tweak its subscription service for publications sold through its iTunes platform.

The news service is a product of Apple and Robert Murdoch's News Corp. Officials said the problem isn't with the iPad newspaper application, but a new subscription feature Apple is building into iTunes.

Plans to debut the iPad newspaper at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art on Wednesday have been tabled for "weeks, not months," the report said.

Officials from News Corp. confirmed the delay.
