WASHINGTON, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Meijer infant shoes due to a choking hazard.

About 2,300 Falls Creek infant boys shoes were imported from China by Meijer of Grand Rapids, Mich., and sold nationwide from January 2010 through September 2010 for about $15.

The shoelaces included with the shoes have lace toggles that can detach, posing a risk to small children, the commission said in a statement.

The shoes involved in the recall are brown, leather infant shoes sold in sizes 5 to 10. They have "Falls Creek" imprinted on the bottom of the shoe.

Consumers were advised to take the shoes from children and remove and discard the lace toggles or return them to a Meijer store for a full refund.

Consumers can call 800-927-8699 for information.
