WASHINGTON, May 27 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Cummins Power Generation portable generators due to a fire hazard.
About 550 portable generators were imported from China by Cummins Power Generation of Minneapolis, Minn., and sold nationwide between June 2009 and February 2010 for between $700 and $1,100 each.
The recall involves Cummins Onan Portable Generators. "Cummins Onan" is printed on the front of the generators, which can leak fuel during normal use, posing a risk of fire, the commission said in a statement.
The recall involves generators with a manufacturing date from June 2009 through December 2009.
Consumers were advised to stop using the recalled generators and contact Cummins for a full refund plus a $100 check.
Consumers can call 800-344-0039 for information.
