Union may suspend French rail strike

PARIS, April 19 (UPI) -- A union leader in France said a train strike affecting the country's high-speed rail service could be suspended soon.

Didier Le Reste, secretary-general of CGT, a trade union, commented on the 13-day-old strike on radio station RMC, Radio France Internationale reported Monday.

No details were given on a possible suspension.

Service on major train lines has been affected by the strike.

French rail operator SNCF has advised travelers to consult its Web site to check on the availability of services.
