WASHINGTON, March 19 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Do It Best bicycle bells due to a violation of lead paint standards.
About 1,000 red, white and black bicycle bells with "I (heart symbol) My Bike" printed on top were imported from China by Do It Best Corp., of Fort Wayne, Ind., and sold nationwide at Dollar Stores and Do It Best Hardware stores from August 2008 through August 2009. The bells, which include red paint containing excessive lead, sold for about $1, the commission said.
Consumers were advised to return the bells to the place of purchase for a refund.
