Boeing's CEO Carson stepping down

CHICAGO, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- U.S. aerospace giant Boeing said Tuesday a shift in management would include replacing the head of its commercial airline division Scott Carson.

The company announced Carson would officially retire at the end of the year, but would leave his post Tuesday.

Carson oversaw development of the 787 Dreamliner, which is more than two years overdue on deliveries and has still not seen a test flight. After postponing a test flight this summer, Boeing said the first fight for the Dreamliner would be scheduled before the end of the year.

Jim Albaugh, a 34-year company veteran who has led Boeing's defense business since 2002 will take over Carson's responsibilities.

Dennis Muilenburg, who has led Boeing's defense support services will take Albaugh's current post.
