Crude oil prices rise Monday

NEW YORK, May 4 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices added Monday to gains made last week, climbing another $1.27 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Crude oil prices jumped $2.08 Friday, marking a gain of 3.2 percent in the five previous trading sessions.

Prices are gaining as stock markets continue to show signs of improvement.

On Monday, prices rose to $53.77 per barrel. Heating oil prices gained 0.0461 cents to $1.4345 per gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline rose 0.0686 cents to $1.586 per gallon. Natural gas prices gained 0.179 cents to $3.725 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $2.073 Monday, up from Sunday's $2.068 a gallon, AAA said.
